About Tatia

A yellow duck, a Chinese life, and the ordinary stories that travel with her.

Hi, I’m Tatia.

In Chinese, you can call me 塔提鸭 — Tatia Duck.

Why the duck? The ya in Tatia sounds like yā (鸭), the Chinese word for duck. One small pun later, I found myself a yellow duck—cute and round, with a little swagger.

I’m from China, now wandering through the wider world with a little nostalgia tucked under my wing.

I’m glad you found me here.

Here, you’ll find a small corner of the Chinese culture I know. It doesn’t live only in history books, famous landmarks, or traditional festivals. It’s also there in the way families talk, the stories that live on, the jokes friends share, and the traditions that keep changing without ever quite disappearing.

I collect these moments in my writing and illustrations.

There is no single answer to Chinese culture here, only the part I’ve lived and carried with me.

Come in and have a look around. Some things may feel new. Others may feel surprisingly like home.
